What is WeChat Moements Advertising?

WeChat Moment Ads are a type of native advertising format available on WeChat.  WeChat Moment Ads appear in the Moments section of the app, which is similar to a Facebook News Feed or Instagram Feed. Similar to Facebook Advertisment, they are displayed as promoted posts, and can include images, videos, and links to external content.

Types of WeChat Moments Advertising

Ads Style 1-Image-text Ads

  • Advertiser Avatar & Nickname Displays the avatar and name of the advertiser’s official account, and users can click to directly access the advertiser’s account introduction page.
  • Text The text should be concise, friendly, easy to understand, with a limit of no more than 40 characters and no more than 4 lines.
  • Image Used to illustrate the creativity with rich visual elements, supports configuration of 1/3/4/6 images, and supports multi-image access to the native page.
  • Text Link The text link guides users to the ad landing page and is an important part of further conveying the appeal to interested users.
  • Store Identification (Applicable for businesses with offline stores) The store identification can be clicked to view the store details page, which can then lead users to navigation, one-click dialing and other functions, further guiding users to the store. Supports multiple store display for a single ad (up to 100 stores).
  • User Social Interaction Allows users to like and comment on the ad, allowing users to “participate” in the ad.

Ads Style 2-Video Ads

Ad Style-1
  • Advertiser Avatar & Nickname Same as regular image-text ads.
  • Text Same as regular image-text ads.
  • Short Video Conveys ad creativity through dynamic videos. Supports short videos with a duration of 6-15 seconds and a video ratio of 4:3 or 16:9. Clicking on the short video has two options:
  • (1) Short Video – Full Screen Short Video – Complete Video, with a time limit of 5 minutes (can be skipped with a “Learn More” button).
  • (2) Short Video – Full Screen Short Video (can be skipped with a “Learn More” button).
  • Text Link Same as regular image-text ads.
  • Store Identification (Applicable for businesses with offline stores) Same as regular image-text ads.
  • User Social Interaction Same as regular image-text ads.

Ad Style-2
  • Advertiser Avatar & Nickname Same as regular image-text ads.
  • Image/Short Video
  • (1) Image: 800450 pixels, image size <300K
  • (2) Short Video: 6-15 seconds duration, 640360 pixels resolution
  • (3) Redirect: Clicking will redirect to automatically generated landing page..
  • Text Title (Optional) Title: Fewer than 10 characters, no line breaks allowed.
  • Text Details (Required) Details: Fewer than 30 characters, no line breaks allowed.
  • Select Button Clicking on the button redirect to a different landing pages. Text should be fewer than 4 Chinese characters and no punctuation is allowed.
  • Store Identification (Applicable for businesses with offline stores) Same as regular image-text ads.
  • User Social Interaction Same as regular image-text ads.

Ads Style 4-Ads Marked with Tags

Ad Style-3 Tag
  • Advertiser Profile Picture & Nickname Same as regular image-text ads.
  • Image/Short Video
  • (1) Image: 800450 pixels, image size < 300K.
  • (2) Short video: 6-15 seconds, resolution 640360 pixels.
  • (3) Clicking will redirect to an automatically generated landing page.
  • Title (optional) Title: fewer than 10 characters, no line breaks allowed.
  • Details (required) Details: fewer than 30 characters, no line breaks allowed.
  • Label Information Total number of characters in the label must be within 16, up to three labels.
  • User Social Interaction Same as regular image-text ads.

Ads Style 5-Pano Ads

Ad Style-4
  • Advertiser profile picture & nickname Same as regular image and text ads
  • Short video  6-15 seconds duration, 960*720 pixel resolution
  • Direct Click to direct to the promotion page with a full-screen vertical video at the top
  • Headline (required) Headline: Less than 10 characters, no line breaks allowed.
  • Details (required) Details: Less than 14 characters, no line breaks allowed
  • Store identification (optional for ads with offline stores) Same as regular image and text ads
  • User social interaction Same as regular image and text ads

Ads Style 6-Interactive Ads

Ad Style-5
  • User function entrance @Advertiser button: Font style and color are the same as “View Details”. Clicking the button will activate the input method to input comments.
  • User @Advertiser comment Visible to Advertiser and friends. Advertiser and friends can reply. No message notification for friends.
  • Advertiser reply Visible to users and friends. Users and friends can reply. Users will receive a message notification, but friends will not. Advertiser can only reply once to each user comment.

Ads Style 7-Ads Cooperating with Celebrity

Ad Style-6
  • Celebrity avatar When users receive the advertisement organically, the public account avatar will display the celebrity avatar.
  • Celebrity name When users receive the advertisement organically, the public account nickname will display the celebrity name.
  • Celebrity and brand partnership introduction Introduction of the partnership between the celebrity and the brand.
  • Brand name The name of the brand that collaborated with the celebrity.
  • Brand introduction Introduction of the brand that collaborated with the celebrity.
  • Brand avatar Display of the brand avatar that collaborated with the celebrity.
